De Koekoek Sports Hall, Hamont-Achel
Sustainable sports hall for top-level volleyball
The new De Koekoek sports hall settles naturally into its green, residential surroundings through natural materials and light colours. Red brickwork at ground level lends warmth; large openings and curved corner glazing provide transparency.
The compact hall is energy-efficient and sustainable, and will be home to several sports clubs — including the top-level volleyball club Tectum Achel — as well as to the pupils of the neighbouring primary school.
